Lt. Gen. R. Steven Whitcomb, Third Army/U.S. Army Central commanding general, was the keynote speaker in Murray County's proclamation of Glenn Martin Day June 15, 2007, in Chatsworth, Ga. Martin, a farmhand from Chatsworth, was a Third Army World War II hero who saved the life of another Soldier two days after D-Day ignoring the incoming fire to his position. His family and friends gathered in front of the Murray County Courthouse to celebrate his accolades.
