On Friday, 7 September, members of the 2/319 Field Artillery BDE, 82nd ABN DVN, Lab techs from the 432nd Blood Support Detachment, 44 MED BDE, and members of the Ft Bragg Blood Donor Center assist each other in the screening of Global Response Force (GRF) personnel to determine eligibility as Fresh Whole Blood donors. The primary goal of this partnership was to determine how many donors possessed the much needed 'O- Blood' otherwise known as the Universal Donor. After blood collection, it will be tested for transfusion transmitted diseases, as well as a determination of titer status, so the group O donors may be designated a Low Titer O Whole Blood Donors. This significant event within the Medical Community embodies the XVIII Airborne Corps spirit of "Low Drag" and is a major step in the Conventional Army's establishment of a lifesaving procedure; essential to the preservation of the lives of Soldiers on the frontlines.
