A plaque honoring the oldest living Medal of Honor recipient, Robert D. Maxwell, was unveiled during a ceremony on Sept. 7, 2018 at Besancon, France. Maxwell courageously leapt on top of a grenade during the liberation of Besancon in 1944, to save fellow Soldiers in the command observation post where they had been fighting.
