U.S. Air Force 1st Lt. Christopher Oerter, a C-17 Globemaster III pilot assigned to the 816th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron, flies a low level approach to a drop zone in Afghanistan, Sept 30, 2011. Oerter and the crew navigated the C-17 through the mountainous terrain before delivering 40 bundles of supplies to a remote outpost in Afghanistan. Aerial delivery of critical supplies decreases the total number of resupply convoys conducted in high threat areas.
