The Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) amphibious transport dock ship JS Osumi (LST 4001), transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20), and Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyer USS Shoup (DDG 86) sail alongside during a Passing Exercise (PASSEX) in the Philippine Sea Aug. 26, 2018. PASSEX enabled the Wasp ARG and the JMSDF a chance to practice communications and maneuvering procedures. The Wasp ARG is currently operating in the region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
