Gen. James C. McConville, Vice Chief of Staff of the Army, uses a virtual reality based flight simulator during a tour of Capitol Factory, Aug. 23 at Austin, Texas. The Army Futures Command’s mission is to develop how future Army organizations will fight with new technology and ensure rapid delivery of war fighting capabilities. The establishment of Army Futures Command marks one of the most significant Army reorganization efforts since 1973, when the U.S. Army disestablished the Continental Army Command and Combat Development Command, and redistributed their functions between two new commands, U.S. Army Forces Command and U.S. Army Training & Doctrine Command.
