U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Michael Lippert, F-35 Pax River ITF test pilot, completes an asymmetric ski jump at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland, Aug. 16, 2018, as part of the Queen Elizabeth workups in preparation for the First of Class Flight Trials (Fixed Wing) aboard Britain’s newest aircraft carrier, HMS Queen Elizabeth.
Lippert, along with ITF pilots Royal Navy Cdr. Nathan Gray, Royal Air Force Sqn. Ldr. Andy Edgell and BAE Systems Peter Wilson, and nearly 200 ITF experts will embark with two F-35B test jets, and several sensors and data recorders to evaluate the fifth-generation aircraft performance and integration with the aircraft carrier during various weather conditions and sea states.
