Lance Cpl. Tyler Wilson sweeps for improvised explosive devices during a security patrol here, Sept. 30. Wilson, a native of Virginia Beach, Va., is a point man with 3rd Squad, 4th Platoon, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment. The point man, whose primary responsibility is finding safe patrol routes, plays a critical role in daily operations for coalition forces in southern Helmand.
