A large unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), consistent with the RQ-4 Global Hawk or similar high-altitude reconnaissance drone, is taxiing on an airfield tarmac at dusk or dawn. A dark-colored civilian sedan is positioned nearby on the apron, likely serving as an escort or chase vehicle. The setting appears to be a military or joint-use airfield surrounded by coniferous forest.

An RQ-4 Global Hawk, assigned to the 12th Reconnaissance Squadron, is followed by two RQ-4 pilots who are fulfilling the role of hawkeye during Red Flag Alaska 18-3, Aug. 16, 2018, at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. The RQ-4 is being remotely operated by pilots at Beale Air Force Base, California. Due to the unmanned nature of the RQ-4 the pilots fulfilling the role of hawkeye serve as the eyes and ears for the jet and relay information to the pilots at Beale.
