A solemn military repatriation ceremony is taking place inside a large aircraft hangar, with numerous flag-draped transfer cases (caskets) arranged in rows on sawhorses. Military personnel from multiple branches are walking in formation among the cases, while a large crowd of uniformed service members and civilians observes from the side. A military transport aircraft (C-17 Globemaster) is visible on the tarmac outside the hangar.

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command conduct an honorable carry ceremony at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPH-H), Hawaii, Aug. 1, 2018. Carry teams will move 55 transfer cases, containing what are believed to be the remains of American service members lost in the Korean War, to the DPAA facility at JBPH-H for identification. North Korea recently turned over the remains to the U.S. and is the first mass turnover of remains since the early '90s. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Seth Coulter)
