Soldiers from the New York Army National Guard, 42nd Infantry Division visit the Oise- Aisne American Cemetery in Seringes et Nesles, France for a ceremony rehearsal and then participate in the Croix Rouge Farm ten mile march on July 27, 2018. Some of the Soldiers started at the town of Sergy, France where the Division lost Soldiers in that town during World War One. The Croix Rouge Farm battlefield tour was a 10-mile road march of historic sites of the Rainbow Division's first offensive actions from July 25-30, 1918. The assault of the division was part of the first allied attack across a 25-mile front near Soissons and Chateau-Thierry on German positions in over a year. The attack alongside French forces also marked one of the first major offensive roles of the newly formed American Expeditionary Force.Twenty-five Soldiers from the 42nd Infantry Division were in France from July 24-29 to take part in events commemorating the division's role-- and the role of the U.S. Army-- in World War I.
