Lucian Niemeyer, assistant secretary of defense for energy, installations and environment, greets Soldiers deployed as part of the 1st Infantry Division Mission Command Element in support of Atlantic Resolve, during a visit to the 1ID MCE headquarter dining facility in Poznań, Poland, July 27, 2018. Niemeyer is currently making visits to various installations and bases across Europe to discuss the way forward for those locations and to emboldened and empower the service members working in them. The 1ID MCE is U.S. Army Europe’s intermediate division-level headquarters charged with ensuring the regionally allocated forces are trained and ready during their nine-month tours to eastern Europe.
