Families and friends of Marines wait for the arrival of Regimental Combat Team 1, 1st Marine Division, from their deployment to Afghanistan, Sept. 2. The mission of RCT-1 was to train and develop Afghan National Security Forces, conduct counterinsurgency operations and develop a self-sufficient ruling body in several districts in Afghanistan.
