BREMERTON, Wash. (July 20, 2018) Quartermaster 3rd Class Donavyn Rogers, from Chicago, paints the superstructure on the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). John C. Stennis Sailors paint the island to deter the accumulation of rust and other forms of corrosion. Painting of the island occurs every six months allowing John C. Stennis to stay operationally ready.
