The Boot Issue room in Bldg. 1917 houses thousands of pairs of steel-toed boots for feet of most sizes, even up to a 17 Wide, at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. Airmen going into career fields that pose foot hazards are issued steel-toed boots in basic training, but if the boots don't fit correctly, they are able to exchange them for a proper-fitting boot at Sheppard. The operation also hands out boots to Soldiers attending civil engineering courses at Sheppard as well as international students attending training here. (U.S. Air Force photo by John Ingle)
