180719-G-ZV557-1082 PACIFIC OCEAN (July 19, 2018) Crew members of U.S Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf (WMSL 750) and the Peruvian Navy maritime patrol boat BAP Ferré (PM 211) are sprayed by water during a damage control exercise to repair a leaky pipe during Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2018 exercise, July 19. Twenty-five nations, 46 ships and five submarines, about 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 27 to Aug. 2 in and around the Hawaiian Island and Southern California. The world’s largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among the participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world’s oceans.
