A gunner aboard an MV-22B Osprey surveys the Afghan landscape over Helmand province, Afghanistan, Sept. 3. Capt. Daniel Fiust, the air officer and a forward air controller for 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, and San Carlos, Calif., native, is one of the many pieces in the air-ground integration puzzle and the Ospreys are one of the dozens of aircraft he works with daily in supporting ground troops.
