Mason, Mich. native, Lance Cpl. Russell Mizer, a Marine with Regimental Combat Team 8, bows his head in a moment of silence during a 9/11rememberance and memorial ceremony held at Forward Operating Base Delaram II, Afghanistan, Sept. 11. Mizer, who has had a family connection to the military service since World War II, remembers being in band class during 6th grade when the news of the terror attacks was announced to his class. "Even though we already had a history of military service in our family, I think it prompted me to step when it was my turn."
