Sgt. Maj. Thomas Ruppert, The Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 40 sergeant major, stands with original MALS-40 Smokin' Aces Marines. These Marines were part of the squadron's set-up at Camp Bastion in 2009 and many volunteered to come back. According to Ruppert, of Chicago, Ill., many of these Marines were happy to be called the Smokin' Aces again.
