180617-N-NO146-0001 U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (June 17, 2018) An MH-53 Sea Dragon helicopter, assigned to "The Blackhawks" of Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron (HM) 15, tows an AQS-24B mine hunting system as Royal Navy minehunter HMS Middleton (M34) rafts alongside Royal Fleet Auxiliary landing ship dock RFA Cardigan Bay (L3009) while an MH-60 Sea Hawk helicopter, assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 26, departs with distinguished visitors during Mine Countermeasures Exercise (MCMEX) 18-2. The bilateral exercise enhances cooperation, mutual mine countermeasure capabilities and interoperability between the U.S. and U.K., demonstrating the shared commitment of ensuring unfettered operations of naval and support vessels, as well as commercial shipping movements, throughout the maritime domain.
