    BANGOR, Wash. (June 14, 2018) Sonar Technician 1st Class Ryan Gartley, from Orlando, Florida, assigned to Trident Training Facility in Bangor, Wash., walks the remains of a U.S. flag to a fire during a flag retirement ceremony at Naval Base Kitsap - Bangor. When a U.S. flag becomes worn, torn, faded, or badly soiled, the flag should be retired with the dignity and respect befitting it. The traditional method is to cut the flag into pieces, separating the 13 stripes from canton and incinerating them separately in a respectful manner.
