In this photo provided by ISAF Regional Command South, Army Sgt. Andrew Herndon, a MEDEVAC crew chief with C Company, 1-52nd Aviation Regiment (Arctic Dustoff), explains some of the equipment that is kept on his Black Hawk to Army Maj. Gen. Patricia D. Horoho, U.S. Army deputy surgeon general and 23rd chief of the U.S. Army Nurse Corps at Kandahar Airfield Aug. 14, 2011. The tool she is lifting is a hydraulic cutter/spreader combination tool, similar to the "Jaws of Life," that can be used for cutting through metal, such as the metal frame of a vehicle, or spreading objects, like wedging it into a crushed doorframe to create an opening.
