A soldier in MultiCam/OCP camouflage uniform is seated on a stone floor studying a topographic map. The soldier is positioned on what appears to be a large decorative compass rose or orientation map engraved into stone, with place names and directional arrows visible. A second document or map is partially visible in the lower left corner of the frame.

SISSONNE, France – Cpl. Jacob Bee, an infantryman with 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team (rotational), 3rd Infantry Division, and Naples, Florida native, views a map on the compass rose section of the Chateau-Thierry Monument in France during a staff ride as part of the U.S. Army Center of Military History’s WWI Centennial week. The purpose of the centennial week is to educate current Soldiers about the unit’s accomplishments, remember the sacrifices of the fallen Soldiers and honor the service of the Warriors who came before them.
