GARMSIR DISTRICT, Helmand province, Afghanistan — Lt. Col. Sean Riordan gives his remarks during a memorial service at Combat Outpost Rankel here, Aug. 17. Riordan, a native of Montclair, Va., is the battalion commander of 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment. The memorial service was for Cpl. Nicholas S. Ott who died while supporting counterinsurgency operations here, Aug. 10. Ott, a native of Manchester, N.J., was a squad leader with 3rd Platoon, Charlie Company.
