John Wheeler, a Marine Corps Martial Arts Program instructor-trainer, demonstrates a MCMAP technique during a martial arts class here, Aug. 9. Wheeler, a native of Winston-Salem, N.C., is the communications maintenance chief, communications platoon sergeant, electronic warfare officer and the MCMAP instructor trainer for 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment. This is his first time to Afghanistan but his third deployment.
