180603-N-AV754-0850 U.S 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (June 3, 2018) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81) fires a Mark 45 5-inch gun during a passing exercise (PASSEX) with the Egyptian navy’s guided-missile frigate El Suez (FFG 946). Winston S. Churchill is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
