U.S. Lt. j.g. Alexis Davis (center), the public affairs officer assigned to the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn., talks with a group of Girl Scouts during a career day aboard the USS Arlington, May 18, 2018. Women from the Coast Guard, Navy and Marines spent the morning with local Girl Scouts aboard the Richard Snyder and the USS Arlington as part of the Fleet Week New York 2018 festivities. About 50 Girl Scouts had the opportunity to experience a naval meal on the Arlington’s mess deck followed by an hour of questions and answers with the servicewomen. Now in its 30th year, is the city’s time-honored celebration of the sea services. It is an unparalleled opportunity for the citizens of New York and the surrounding tri-state area to meet Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, as well as witness firsthand the latest capabilities of today’s maritime services.
