Pāhoa, Hawaii, May 24, 2018 – U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) On-Scene Coordinator Jason Musante (left) works with Hawaii resident David Gradeohl (right) to install a temporary air monitoring station on his property, which is a safe space for the equipment, rather than installing it in a public space. The air monitoring station will analyze harmful gasses release during the Kīlauea volcanic eruption. FEMA continues to work with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Hawaii Department of Health (DOH), and local residents to install air monitoring stations around the affected area to analyze public health threats.
