Pāhoa, Hawaii, May 20, 2018 – A U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Environmental Strike Team installs a temporary air monitoring system during the Kīlauea volcanic eruption. As part of a FEMA mission-assignment, EPA is working with the Hawaii Department of Health to help keep residents safe by installing air monitoring stations, which provide data on sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, and particulate levels.
