Fredricka Whitfield, mistress of ceremonies, speaks to more than 600 attendees at the gala dinner for the Tuskegee Airmen 40th National Convention, Aug. 6, at the Gaylord National Hotel, Md. Her father, Malvin "Mal" Gretson Whitfield, is a member of the Tuskegee Airmen and was the first military member to receive a gold medal in the 1948 Olympic games.
