    Houston city council member Brenda Stardig participates in an event recognizing Army National Guard Col. Mark Campsey in Houston, Texas, Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011. As part of the event - held at the Houston Astros' Minute Maid Park - Stardig presented a council resolution honoring Campsey, who was retiring from the Guard after more than 20 years of service. The last several years of his career were as the commander of Houston's 72nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, and included leading the unit during its 2009-2010 deployment to Iraq, one of the largest deployments of the Texas Army National Guard since World War II. The City of Houston regularly participates in veteran support programs.
