A Douglas C-47 Skytrain awaits visitors outside the Heritage Center at Travis Air Force Base, Calif., May 17, 2018. The aircraft was used extensively by the Allies in World War II to transport personnel and supplies. The C-47 also served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. It was assigned at Travis from 1943 – 1953.
