    ‘Longknife’ Squadron soldiers recognized for successfully turning over base to Iraqi Security Forces

    Lt. Col. Matthew Moore (center), commander of 5th Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Advise and Assist Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, United States Division – Center, and an Ophelia, Va., native, presents Staff Sgt. Joseph Grant, a route clearance squad leader with 5th Sqdn., 4th Cav. Regt., and a Charleston, Ill., native, a folder containing a combat spur certificate during an awards ceremony Aug. 3 at Camp Liberty, Iraq. In addition to presenting combat spur certificates, which signify service in a cavalry squadron while deployed, Moore and Col. Paul Calvert, commander of 2nd AAB, presented Army Achievement Medals and commander’s coins to groups of Longknife Squadron soldiers for their work in making it possible to hand over Joint Security Station Falcon to the Iraqi Security Forces.
