NAVAL AMPHIBIOUS BASE CORONADO, Calif. (May 8, 2018) Rear Adm. David Welch, commander, Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC), addresses SMWDC team members, family, and friends during a change of command ceremony held onboard Naval Amphibious Base Coronado. Welch relieved Rear Adm. John Wade during the ceremony. SMWDC is the Navy’s surface warfare community’s Warfighting Development Center and its mission it is to increase the lethality and tactical warfighting proficiency of the surface community.
