Coast Guard, Washington State Ferries, Seattle Yacht Club talk boating safety [Image 2 of 3]
A 29-foot Response Boat-Small II crew, from Coast Guard Station Seattle, escort the Washington State Ferry Puyallup as the ferry crew transited to Bainbridge Island, Wash., May 4, 2018.
Random ferry escorts are part of the Coast Guard’s port, waterways and coastal security mission where the boat crew presence is preventative in nature, and also an enforcement of the 500-yard radial safety zone around the large passenger vessels.
