John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group Cruiser-Destroyer Warships Underway for Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT)

Pacific Ocean (April 23, 2018) Lieutenant Ben Olivas, a Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI), assigned to Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC), debriefs an Air Defense event conducted as part of a Cruiser-Destroyer (CRUDES) Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT) exercise aboard USS Stockdale (DDG 106). SWATT debriefs are a part of an established Plan, Brief, Execute, Debrief (PBED) process that enables high velocity learning for shipboard watch teams. Stockdale is one of three warships from USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) Carrier Strike Group (CSG) completing a CRUDES SWATT exercise. USS Mobile Bay (CG 53) and USS Spruance (DDG 111) are also participating in the SMWDC-led exercise. SWATTs are designed to increase warfighting proficiency, lethality, and interoperability of participating units. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Amanda A. Hayes/released)
