Sponges at Rainbow Bay Marina Used for University of Hawaii at Manoa Research

180425-N-ND356-0006 PEARL HARBOR (Apr. 25, 2018) Sponges grow on the floating docks of the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Rainbow Bay Marina. Various types of sponges found in the marina are the subject of research for Dr. Harry Davis, associate clinical professor at John A. Burns School of Medicine at University of Hawaii. Dr. Davis' research uses marine sponges as a simple model for development that has application to many disorders such as Alzheimer's and autism.
