U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Sgt. Geovanni Rivera, 346th Air Expeditionary Group civil affairs team member, tosses a softball during a game in Meteti, Panama, March 28, 2018, during exercise New Horizons 2018. Rivera deployed to the 346th AEG, but is a member of the 4th Civil Affairs Group based out of Miami, Fla., and has participated in nine New Horizons exercises throughout Central America. During the exercise, aimed at training U.S. military members and assisting partner nations, exercise personnel also spend down time playing sports, participating in local events and interacting with locals to build relationships and promote U.S. and Panamanian partnership. Exercise New Horizons is a joint training exercise where all branches of the U.S. military conduct training in civil engineer, medical and support services while benefiting the local community.
