Vice Adm. Scott Van Buskirk, commander of the U.S. 7th Fleet, inspects members of the French armed forces of New Caledonia, and U.S. Marines and sailors assigned to the U.S. 7th Fleet command ship USS Blue Ridge for a wreath laying ceremony at the American Monument. The event commemorated the Fourth of July and the memory of U.S. service members who helped ensure the freedom of New Caledonia during World War II. Blue Ridge and embarked staff are underway on patrol in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.
