Shannon Roberts, utilitiesman constructionman and a Seabee from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 1, takes measurements for a new covered walk way and access ramp for the Wounded Warrior Unit, located at Kandahar Airfield in southern Afghanistan. The ramp and deck allow wounded soldiers ease of mobility around their compund during their recovery and rehabilitation. NMCB-1 is deployed to Kandahar as part of Task Force Overlord and is responsible for all construction engineering and engineering support in south and southwest Afghanistan.
