    Lt. Col. Kendall Bergmann, a Comfort, Texas, native and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District deputy engineer, walks up a ladder after looking at the Lake Darling Dam gates, northwest of Minot, N.D., June 27. The corps is in the process of reducing water releases from the lake after historic flooding damaged several downstream communities along the Souris River. The corps continues to provide technical assistance to affected communities.
