Lance Cpl. Kodiak McBrayer poses for a photo on Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa, Feb. 22, 2018. McBrayer was recognized for identifying a misconfigured liquid oxygen purging unit that affected 48 aircraft across eight Navy fleets. His findings potentially saved hundreds of lives, according to his Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal Summary of Action. In return for his discovery, he was also meritoriously promoted and received a challenge coin from Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Robert B. Neller, and Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, Sgt. Maj. Ronald L. Green. McBrayer, a native of Beech Grove, Indiana, is a cryogenics equipment operator with Marine Wing Liaison Kadena, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl.
