Petty Officer 2nd Class Christopher P. Mascarina applies a tourniquet to simulated casualty Pfc. Tylynn J. Scoggins during night raid rehearsals here June 19. Mascarina, 31, a hospital corpsman and San Jose, Calif., native, and Scoggins, 21, a machine gunner from Trout Lake, Wash., serve with Company L, one of three rifle companies in Battalion Landing Team 3/1, the ground-combat element for the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. The unit recently began its first full-scale exercise since becoming a complete Marine air-ground task force in May.
