Cobra Gold 18: Allied firefighters enhance interoperability through training

U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Keri Delarocha, an expeditionary firefighter with Marine Wing Support Squadron 172 from Simi Valley, Calif., shows Royal Thai Navy firefighters how to use a hydraulic spreader Feb. 20, 2018, during aircraft extraction training at U-Tapao International Airport, Rayong province, Thailand. After extraction training, the combined firefighting team conducted a live burn to simulate an aircraft crash. The bilateral training, conducted as part of Exercise Cobra Gold 2018, enabled firefighters an in-depth look at how the other service operates. Cobra Gold, in its 37th iteration, is designed to advance regional security and ensure effective responses to regional crises by bringing together a robust multinational force in the Kingdom of Thailand to address shared goals and security commitments in the Indo-Pacific region.
