ATLANTIC OCEAN (Feb. 8, 2018) Aviation Ordinanceman 1st Class Steven Hernandez assigned to the “Proud Warriors” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 72, awaits the takeoff of an MH-60R Seahawk helicopter on the flight deck aboard guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG 60). Normandy is underway as a part of the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group (HSTCSG) composite unit training exercise (COMPTUEX), which evaluates the strike group’s ability as a whole to carry out sustained combat operations from the sea - ultimately certifying the HSTCSG for deployment.
