U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Michael T. Merrell, a low altitude air defense (LAAD) gunner with Alpha Battery, 2nd LAAD Battalion, provides security from a fighting position during Mountain Training Exercise (MTX) 1-18 on Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center Bridgeport, Calif. on Jan. 29, 2018. 2nd LAAD participated in MTX to increase the unit’s ability to rapidly respond, sustain itself, and to accomplish missions in a unique cold weather environment and mountainous terrain.
