Red, white and blue candles burn behind the Noncommissioned Officer plaque during an NCO induction ceremony hosted by 4th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Advise and Advise Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division at Contingency Operating Site Marez, Iraq, May 21. The candles represent valor, purity and honor, values instilled within an NCO as they serve. During the time-honored ceremony, soldiers recited the NCO Creed and passed by the candles as they crossed the line signifying entry into the NCO Corps.
