MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – Japanese Soldiers with the Western Army Infantry Regiment, Japan Ground Self Defense Force, prepare to clear a house during exercise Iron Fist 2018 on Feb. 5. The JGSDF cleared a simulated hostile village of enemy combatants after landing their Amphibious Assault Vehicles on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton during their amphibious assault training. Iron Fist is an annual, bilateral training exercise where U.S. and Japanese service members train together and share techniques, tactics and procedures to improve their combined operational capabilities.
