Sgt. Steven Grasso (second from left), Pfc. Kevin Nieves, and Spc. Stephen Leon of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1-181st Infantry, return to formation after receiving their awards from Gen. David Petraeus during his visit to Camp Phoenix June 4. For their actions to halt the advance of insurgents wearing suicide vests during a complex attack April 2, Nieves received the Bronze Star Medal for Valor and the Purple Heart, Grasso received the Purple Heart and Leon received the Army Commendation Medal for Valor.
