GREAT LAKES, Ill. (Jan. 25, 2018) Recruits learn how to moor a ship aboard the USS Marlinspike Seamanship Trainer at Recruit Training Command (RTC) while members of the Business Executives for National Security (BENS) organization look on. The seamanship training is just one of the many Navy skills recruits learn during their time at the Navy’s only boot camp. The members of BENS visited RTC Jan. 25-26 to learn how the Navy transforms recruits into combat-ready Sailors. RTC is approximately eight weeks and all enlistees into the U.S. Navy begin their careers at the command. Training includes physical fitness, seamanship, firearms, firefighting and shipboard damage control along with lessons in Navy heritage and core values, teamwork and discipline. About 30,000 to 40,000 recruits graduate annually from RTC and begin their Navy careers. (U.S. Navy photo by Scott A. Thornbloom/Released)
